hi everyone, hope you are enjoying the photos we have put up.
today we have arrived in Xela, as planned, via a variety of transportation including 2 chicken buses and a more classy 2nd class bus. the roads were amazing, full of hair pin turns and i had to make a mad dash for the front of the bus at one point due to a case of bus sickness. the driver was laughing at me- apparently guatemalans dont get bus sick!
xela seems like a nice place to spend a week on first impressions. the people have been incredibly friendly so far and we are currently waiting in one of the recommended spanish schools for them to return from siesta to see if we can book in for the week.
we are looking forward to another week of spanish and the cultural activity programs that most of the schools run in the afternoon including trips to the market, volcano climbs and cooking classes.
on monday ruth and charles will return to Xela and we will catch up with them again which will be good. they are currently hiking from Xela to Lago Atitlan.
hope you are enjoying your day.
