This was incredible and made me think of you guys Mike and Christy...The islands are very fertile because of the volcanic soil but lack any streams or rivers. Individidual vines are planted in the centre of each of these holes to increased the availability of water and to shield them from the dry winds coming off the Sahara.
Pretty amazing huh?
