today's edition

This is the 'mini' house we were working on in teams of 5. We moved on from the 'sand pit' where we did the sub-floor...ie stumps, bearers and floor joists, and started our framing section out in the 'barn'. After marking out the floor and ceiling plates for intersecting wall studs, windows and doors we added the studs and braced each wall plumb. Then we joined the walls and put up the internal walls. Then the diagonal bracing, ceiling joists, hanging beam. Then we put in some plasterboard. Once it was framed we made pretend windows to install and pretend door frames. Then we did architraves, skirting around the floor and windows internally. Then weatherboards and external architraves.
Then, we got to tear it all down!
This is what you do before the concrete truck turns up to make columns..like for a multi level carpark or something. You can see the metal clamps around the columns, they are spaced closer at the bottom to allow for the increased weight.
So the lemon merignue pie turned out after all! it was delicious if i do say myself!
